A recent poll by the Algemeen Dagblad shows that approximately 30% of Dutch priests come from abroad. This is also the case in the Diocese of 's-Hertogenbosch. STE Languages ​​enjoys working with the Diocese to develop and improve the foreign priests' Dutch language skills. The priests come from Africa and India and they develop the Dutch language from the basic level with great enthusiasm and dedication. They receive their first lessons online in their country of origin. This is then followed by the Basic Civic Integration Examination Abroad if suitability is proven. In consultation with the Diocese, the priests then work in a parish. The ultimate target level, once they are in the Netherlands, is C1+ (near native), which is the second highest language level possible. It is important for foreign priests to learn to use the Dutch language in a sensitive manner, with the correct words and intonations.

On Monday, 1st July, STE Languages, together with the Diocese staff including Bishop Gerard de Korte, Vicar General Theo Lamers, Rector Norbert Swagemakers and Policy Officer Jeroen Goosen, were present at the Sint-Jans Centre in Den Bosch to witness the priests' great progress in the Dutch language. It was a great pleasure to listen to their moving and special presentations.
